Information on the safe and healthy operations of our hotel

Your safety & wellbeing: Our top priority
Considering the health and safety of our guests and staff as our top priority, John & Mary’s Studios, in consultation with the guidelines and recommendations of the World Health Organization, the Greek Ministries of Health and Tourism and local authorities, have devised and put to implementation an integrated Health and Safety plan foreseeing all measures, specifications and procedures across all hotel departments to address the new COVID-19 and any disease that can be transmitted in the community.
Management and all staff members are committed to provide not only a carefree and safe stay to our guests but also their familiar John & Mary’s experience.
Public Areas
- Increased cleaning and disinfection across all high-volume touchpoints and all exposed surfaces.
- Health stations placed throughout the reception, including wipes and sanitizers.
- Education of guests on how to take the necessary precautions.
- Simple and fast E-check-in/check-out procedures.
- Contactless payment of taxes and other services at the Reception.
- Alcohol-based hand rub, soap, and tissues available in every restroom.
Guest Rooms
- Deep cleaning and disinfection in all guest rooms and bathrooms.
- Specific sanitation consideration on all high-touch guest room areas using a propriate disinfectant.
- Unused disposable items are discarded, bed linen from customer rooms that may be contaminated will be kept in separate labeled bags and washed at temperatures of 60-90 degrees, all furniture made out of fabric disinfected with steam cleaners and disinfectants, while rooms will be ventilated after evacuation.
Breakfast – Bar
- High standards of food safety and hygiene, as well as strict personal hygiene policies for our team members, will be followed.
- All Bar / Breakfast surfaces & furniture will be disinfected after each service and the tables will be cleaned and disinfected after each sitting.
- Seating capacity will be reduced, and tables will be arranged to allow a maximum of 4 persons for 10 square meters.
Hand hygiene
- Alcohol- based hand sanitizers will be available for guests and employees in different areas throughout the hotel. Such areas include the hotel entrance, the reception, the lobby, the corridors, the food and beverage outlets, the shop, etc.
Air-conditioning & ventilation
Social Distancing
- Social distancing actions will include limiting large groups of people coming together.
- Sings at the hotel’s public areas will remind our guests to maintain social distancing of at least 1,5m.
Hotel response teams & training
- All John & Mary’s personnel have received extensive ongoing training on Health & Safety measures to provide a carefree and safe stay to our guests, implementing the POSI (Prevent of Spread of Infection) guide and all procedures and preventive measures, as described in our Hotels Manual.

ANNEX
The following is part of the protocol concerning hygiene and safety in relation to conv-19:
General Information
- Nikos Angelinios (the owner of John & Mary’s Studios) is the health coordinator and he supervises that protocol is being followed and individual persons to supervise each property section (eg F&B, housekeeping).
- Hotel staff is trained to follow and execute action plans.
- A Doctor on call is available, who will act on the instructions of EODY for testing suspected cases of Covid-19. (the cost of the doctor's visit concerns the guest)
Hotel staff
- All staff members must be aware of how the Covid-19 virus is transmitted; be able to provide information to guests; be trained on practices for cleaning and disinfecting identified spots; follow hygiene rules to avoid transmitting the virus (frequent hand washing, avoiding handshakes, physical distancing, avoiding contact of hands with eyes, nose and mouth and respiratory hygiene)
- Each staff member is provided with personal protective equipment (masks, gloves)
- Staff is advised to stay home and seek medical attention if they experience symptoms related to the disease, notifying the hotel’s health coordinator.
- Each staff member undergoes thermal screening every morning.
- If a staff member comes in contact with a Covid-19 case, they must report it immediately to the hotel’s health coordinator and be excused from work.
Hotel log book
- For public health protection, John & Mary’s reception, keep an updated record of staff members and all guests staying at the hotel – name, nationality, date of arrival and departure, contact details (address, telephone, e-mail), so that communication is possible if a coronavirus case is identified at a later time.
- The General Regulation on Personal Data Protection (GDPR) must be observed and all staff members and guests must be informed that their information will be kept on file for reasons of public health protection.
- It is necessary to record and update all events that may occur in the logbook.
Communication
- We inform our employees, guests, contractors, suppliers, visitors and the general public on the measures of their action plan.
- Information update on our website (www.johnmarystudios.com) with a dedicated Covid-19 section, which will include information on our new policy of taking increased hygiene measures, changes in opening hours of common spaces and modification of check-in / check-out duration. Also, we provide this information with their available means on printed information at reception and public areas).
Accommodation services
Reception desk / concierge
- our staff members are obliged to follow the necessary hygiene measures (frequent hand washing), keep the appropriate distance (at least one meter from customers) and avoid handshakes.
- When requested, staff should be able to: a) inform guests on the hotel’s rules and the new measures taken to address incidents and b) provide useful information to health care providers regarding the locations of public and private hospitals, Covid-19 reference hospitals and pharmacies in the area
- At the reception there is available a medical kit available for the occurrence of an incident, which will include disposable gloves and masks, antiseptics, cleaning wipes, apron, long-sleeved robe, laser thermometer, pressure gauge and oximeter.
- Staff must be in the position to identify symptoms and report them directly to the health coordinator.
- Plexiglass windows are placed at the reception desk and at the shop cashier.
- The reception desk has an antiseptic for use by the customer
- Frequent disinfection of reception desks must be happening regularly.
- In order for all to maintain a distance of two meters from one another, the hotel should arrange the reception desk and furniture in public areas in such a way in order to keep the space open add floor markings and properly manage queues in order to reduce waiting times.
- Queuing at reception during check-in / check-out must be avoided
- Credit or debit cards are recommended for payment of hotel costs (cash should be accepted in only exceptional cases). Bills, invoices and receipts are recommended to be sent by email.
- All key cards must be disinfected.
- Mandatory extension of the duration of check-out and check-in times between stays (check out by 11 am and check-in from 3 pm) so that rooms can be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected and aired out through natural ventilation.
- Non-hotel guests are prohibited from entering hotels.
Cleaning, disinfection, housekeeping (rooms and public areas)
- John & Mary’s is obliged to follow enhanced disinfection and deep cleaning practices in accordance with EODY instructions.
- John & Mary’s reinforce its sanitation services in all public areas and pay special attention to cleaning “high-frequency touch points” such as door handles and elevator knobs.
- Meticulous cleaning and very good room ventilation must take place between the stays of guests.
- Guests with symptoms should be monitored (discretely).
- The frequent cleaning of rooms during the stay of guests should be avoided. It is allowed only if guests are not in the room. (This is for housekeeping staff to avoid coming in contact with possible cases and to prevent further transmission).
- The sheets and pillowcases will be changed every 3 or 4 days. Towels should be changed daily only upon the request of guests.
- We removed immaterial objects (decoration pillows, bedding) and multi-purpose items such as menus, magazines, etc from all rooms.
- TV and air conditioner controls have disposable covers and will be replaced in every check-out.
- Fabric surfaces (eg furniture upholstery) will be cleaned with a steam appliance.
- The doors and windows of all rooms should be opened daily for natural ventilation.
- Antiseptic gels provided on each floor.
Food services – Kitchens - bar
- John & Mary’s bar will be serving only coffee, fresh juices and generally drinks. Snacks or meals are not serving for the summer of 2020.
- Also, the breakfast buffet will not operate for the summer of 2020. Some breakfast if it is necessary, will be served a la carte. Also, we stopped accepting new reservations with breakfast. Our guests can buy fresh bakery, fruits etc from our mini market shop on the premises and can enjoy their own made breakfast in their balcony.
- We have reduced by 1/3rd our bar’s area capacity by arranging our spaces to meet the new required distances.
- We recommend our customers to enjoy their drink in our outdoor area, shaping the spaces so that the new required distances are observed.
Air conditioning and space ventilation
According to the Health Ministry’s guidance on “Taking measures to ensure public
health from viral and other infections during the use of air conditioning units”, special
attention should be shown on non-recirculation of air and allowing natural ventilation in
rooms and other areas.
We recommend to our customers if they want to use a/c to leave the bathroom window
open in order for fresh air to circulate. (There is a protective screen for mosquitoes)
- Shop operating in the premises
The same rules apply as in our shop (mini market) operating inside John & Mary’s,
according to the current legal framework. Social distancing rules apply. Special floor
markings should be used for guests to maintain the proper distance (1.5 meters) from
one another. Other restrictive rules regard how many people are allowed in one shop,
depending on size.
Public areas (outdoor and indoor)
- Public areas include the lobby, seating area, outdoor seating, etc. Social distancing rules apply.
- Signage and floor markings must be used to remind customers to keep their distance from one another.
- Furniture should be moved in public space layout for physical distance to be kept to avoid overcrowding (4 people / 10 sqm)
- Overcrowding in restrooms should be avoided.
